The New European Bauhaus (NEB), a creative and interdisciplinary movement, wants to rethink our cities and living spaces, making them more beautiful, sustainable and inclusive. It is a programme that well sums up the new vision of Europe. In fact, it also refers to Agenda 2030, in particular Goal 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”.

Origin of the movement and development
The project recalls the artistic-cultural movement that developed in Germany during the Weimar Republic and intends to launch a reflection that brings together different skills to rethink cities and the management of spaces in a post-COVID-19 world.
The NEB is founded on three core values:
- sustainability;
- aesthetics;
- inclusion.
The initiative closely involves the urban environment, stimulating interventions in energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and urban regeneration that can also improve the aesthetics of cities with a focus on creating inclusive social spaces. The programme is aimed at designing future ways of living in which art, culture, social inclusion, science and technology intersect under the banner of sustainability.
The role of JO Education | Innovation Hub Catania (IHCT) as NEB partner
JO Education is the promoter of the Innovation Hub Catania, a think tank of digital innovators that envisions for Catania a smart city future, an urban environment redesigned by digital transformation with a more human-friendly user experience.
The NGO’s mission is to improve the connection among local innovators by promoting digital awareness and the aggregation of skills in order to make new ideas flourish.
Perfectly in line with the fundamental principles of the New European Bauhaus, the Innovation Hub Catania works to promote an ecosystem focused on digital transformation and the evolution towards smarter cities, oriented towards sustainable and inclusive economic development and aimed at achieving a high quality of daily life for citizens.
A call for creativity and innovation
In an operation that aims to become choral among those in the creative sector and beyond, the New European Bauhaus movement is calling everyone to take responsibility for building an inclusive and sustainable future. If on the one hand it is necessary to define concrete projects, on the other hand a broad cultural work of new imagination of Europe and ecological transition is needed.
It is therefore hoped that the Bauhaus will be the forerunner of a new season capable of transforming the design paradigm for decades to come.
Join our community of innovators
The objective of the New European Bauhaus is to promote the transition of European society towards environmental and social sustainability through innovative projects and solutions that take into account issues such as circularity and solidarity, without neglecting the preservation of the territory and urban contexts.
JO Education, as an official NEB partner, through its Innovation Hub, acts as a bridge for the creation of a more aware and sustainable community.
